Aaliyah also had a couple of rebounds to go along with her 2 steals.
The Lady Eagles varsity basketball team is coached by my fellow Lobo classmate Patricia Beckworth-Nelson, and she is fielding a team with one senior, one junior, 4 sophomores, and 5 freshmen (the five starters from the 8th grade team which won district last year). Coach Nelson was a former player herself, an OUTSTANDING player for the Lady Lobos back in the day. Knowing Coach Nelson as well as I do, I know that these girls will be very, very successful this year and for the next three years. My granddaughter Aaliyah is one of the freshmen on the team, and although the majority of the team was understandably nervous, they all played very well and won their first game over Henderson, 65-50. Great job, young ladies!
